Enjoy the challenge and fun of QRP!

What could be better than enjoying the afternoon with good friends and playing radio?  This is one of the many ways you can enjoy amateur radio and low power communications known as QRP!

QRP is gaining popularity around the World and has been growing by leaps and bounds with more Hams joining the ranks as low power operators.  Just how low you ask? Try 5 watts or less! Many operators consider 5 watts to be the maximum.

In fact many QRP operators are actively trying to reduce there power levels even more by placing resistors in front of the transmitting side of the rig.  Dropping there actual transmit power levels down to just a few watts.

I  really enjoy QRP  and have helped many hams discover the fun of low power operating by hosting  local "QRP IN THE PARK" events during the summer and fall.  With a small battery, the transceiver, and portable antenna system,  you can set up communications almost anywhere!

Does QRP work?  You bet !  Some of the many interesting and more memorable contacts I have made were done on low power.  I have found using strategy and time of day to help capitalize on the ever changing band conditions gives opportunity for working some nice DX. So be patient,  search the bands and listen for those calling QRP!

Give low power a  try sometime and invite other hams to participate with you on your next QRP adventure!

   Its a lot of fun!
